NEW YEAR: 2017 IN FIVE WORDS

2017 IS HERE!!!!

We just finished up the first week of 2017. One down and 51 more ahead of us. I love the beginning of a new year. Time for fresh starts. If you did not like how 2016 ended now is the perfect time to make some changes. However, if you had a great year what can you do to keep the awesomeness going? I usually like to pick out a word to define my approach to the new year, but this time I changed things up a little bit for 2017. It could not just be a word, but a phrase. A short and simple, keep it to the point phrase. I told my family I wanted them all to come up with a 5 word sentence to guide them through the rest of this year. So, these are the year defining statements my crew came up with.

“MAKE MY ENTIRE LIFE AWESOME” BY CHRISHELLE

That’s right I am aiming for the sky. I will not be satisfied with simply loosing weight or being a better wife/mom. I want it all. My entire life!!!!! Now, I do not think it is going to magically happen, plans have been made. I will be reading my bible more, working on my prayer life, eating healthier, being more active, and spending more quality time with my family. 2016 was not bad, but I want more. Watch out 2017, here I come.

“DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF” BY NATHAN

That sounds exactly like what I would expect our of my husband. He definitely has a Type B personality.(thank goodness or he would have never lasted 25 years with this Type A girl) He plans on focusing on the things that matter and let the things that are unimportant or beyond his control work themselves out. His faith and family will be in the spotlight. Less stress and more chill time,  in 2017.

“GOD IS ALWAYS IN CONTROL” BY NATHANIEL

My kid never ceases to amaze me. He has always been pretty in tune with his spiritual side. Even as a child, Nathaniel seemed to be sure of his relationship with God. As a new father and husband, he definitely feels that the bible is his instruction manual. He plans on giving it all to God and trusting in His plans.

“LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS” BY TAYLOR

Yep, the Fruits of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 will be her guide to finding balance in her busy life of a new wife/mom and college student. She plans of finding bliss in her new family through her faith. Love for strangers and those in need, Joy in small things, Peace with what she has been given, Patience for her little Aksel, and Kindness for those who have done her wrong.

“WORK HARD AND STAY HUMBLE” BY REBECCA

My kid is pretty stinking amazing. (well at least in the mom’s opinion) She has worked hard to be in the top of her graduating class. My smart little chickie has achieved many successes, but she has never let this go to her head. She knows that all of the glory goes to God. This year she will reap the fruits of her efforts when she graduates from high school and begins college. Becca plans on remembering that it was not just her fortitude that lead her to these rewards.

“NOTHING IS OUT OF REACH” BY JASMINE

First of all, let me introduce Jasmine. She is Taylor’s best friend and our adopted daughter. Jasmine is a young woman with big plans and strong faith. Hard work and confidence in God’s plans and promises to us will lead her to more blessings than she could ever imagine.

“GOT MILK?” BY BABY AKSEL

No, it is not 5 words, but give him a break he is only 3 months old. I know he cannot give us a 2017 phrase, but I wanted to include him because he is just too cute. Can you blame me?

Okay, there it is. Our family is ready for the new year. What is your phrase? How do you plan to navigate 2017?
