My name is Chrishelle Ebner, and I am a smoothie addict. As far as I am concerned, this is the invention that will mark a change in humanity. Okay, maybe I am being dramatic, but you have to admit a drink with all the nutrition you could ask for blended into a delicious liquid libation at least makes the top ten list of life changing innovations.
Not only am I a smoothie lover, but I have raised a house full of connoisseurs. All of my kids come running when they hear the buzz of the blender. They all love a good smoothie, but my youngest not only loves drinking them, but she is also been known to come up with some tasty creations. A couple of years ago she won a 4H “Got Milk” drink competition with a creamy tropical smoothie.
MY TAKE ON A PRIZE WINNING SMOOTHIE
Maddie’s drink was pretty great. She used tropical fruit, milk, and yogurt to make a creamy dream of a drink. Y’all know me. I love my drinks pool side and a milk filled smoothie just will not work, but I loved her fruity flavors. Here I go to the drawing board. There has to be a way to take out the milk, and keep the tropical flare. Well, I think I came up with a drink that keep that island feel, while taking the cows out of the equation (for the most part anyway).
TAKE ME TO THE TROPICS SMOOTHIE
1 Cup Frozen Pineapple Chunks
1 Cup Frozen Mandarin Orange Sections
1 Cup Frozen Mango Chunks
1 4 OZ Container of Greek Yogurt (frozen)
1/2 Cup Pineapple Juice
1/2 Cup Cashew Milk
1/2 Cup Pineapple Coconut Flavored Carbonated Water
Place all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. You do not need to add any ice. The frozen fruits will make your drink cold as well as ginving the mixture a thick consistency. Serve cold. Makes about 6 4 OZ drinks.
I think I have a hit. The first batch of smoothies were gone before I could get much more that a small sip, and everyone was already requesting more. Hope you enjoy them as much as my crazy crew.
